Breaking the Siege: In the spirit of Rachel Corrie & Mavi Marmara

When I first received the invitation, I'm all set to attend the conference. I know it's going to be a good conference. Bila sampai sana pagi tu, I got the feeling I might be crying today. Semua pon ada, all kind of people, different races, Malay, Chinese, Indians, Arabs, Western, different colors, old and young all came together to show our support towards the Palestinian. All for the name of humanity. Ada rasa sayu yang tak terungkap.

The conference started with multimedia presentation. Masa ni la aku rase semua orang pon menangis. Memang tak tahan la tengok. Video tu tunjuk Doktor nak selamatkan seorang laki yang kepala dia sampai paras hidung dah hancur. Berlubang. Tapi masih bernyawa lagi. Doktor masukkan tangan dalam lubang tu. Letak kain nak tahan darah keluar. Sedih sangat. Yang part mayat bergelimpangan tu tak payah cakap la. Ya Allah. Tu je mampu diucapkan. Sampai hari ni aku gelisah sangat. Teringat video tu.

Antara sesi conference; key note address by Tun, Session A: Freedom Flotilla - Eyewitness Accounts, where the panels are Mr Denis J. Halliday, Mrs Jenny Graham, Dr Hasan Huseyin Uysal (Yes, he's the one who treat the wounded Israeli soldier), Ashwad Ismail, Prof Michel Chossudovsky (aku memang kagum ngan prof ni sebab dia memang lantang bersuara). They are sharing about their experience when their ship hijack by the Israeli commandos.

Session B: Life in Gaza, a very interesting session but unfortunately aku balik dulu. Sebab lapar sangat. Segan nak lunch walau pon lunch disediakan sebab aku sorang2. Teruk betol aku sebab lebih pentingkan perut dari nak dengar sendiri pasal pengalaman saudara2 aku di Gaza.Hu3. Session C: A call to action. So tak tau jugak ape action yang akan dibuat.

But aku just nak qoute balik yang Ashwad cakap, Lebih kurang camni la " Eventually people will get bored (about Palestine) because we keep on talking the same thing over and over (without any solution), but please bear in mind this is not and overnight process..." Aku pon rase btol apa yang dia kata tu. Lama2 isu ni akan jadi basi. (when flotilla tu kena hijack, sume pakat tukar profile Gaza kat Fb, bila tiba WC sume tkr gambar football player..enough ke kalau support camtu huh?). I guess memang manusia mudah lupa sebab tak alami sendiri.

Apa yang aku boleh kata, So much had been said, So little action, for sure a lot more to be done. Right now aku hanya mampu support this way je and berdoa pada Allah semoga satu hari nanti bumi Palestin akan jumpa keamanan. Amin.
